Our new pet-the grasshopper

We found an injured grasshopper living in one of my potted plants on the porch. It has a broken leg and half of an antenna missing - so sad! T visits his grasshopper and makes sure he is still in his pot every day!

Our little swimmers

Finally used the underwater setting on my wonderful Kristen-proof (aka clutz proof) camera!
Monday we went swimming at Krissy's mom's pool with Devon, Krissy, Kim and her 4 kiddos. It was a perfect day and we spent hours in the pool! T really has become a little fish when he swims and really is getting more independent with each swimming experience!

My little guy actually opens his eyes underwater?! Love it!

Grammar shmammer!

I think that in general T has wonderful verbal skills for his age, and has for some time. As is expected with many toddlers, he has difficulty enunciating "L's" and "N's" though. I have concerns about his going between proper speech and this made-up, funny language he uses, often when he's playing or is super hyper...Jason calls it his Chinese! At 3 1/2 I think he speaks well though. After all, he can say the name of most dinosaurs, many of them I hadn't heard of before having him!
But I am here to admit that there are some words he uses that I just haven't had the heart to correct...what can I say? He is just so darn cute sometimes, and I don't see the harm in letting it go just a bit longer!

Here are the ones I can recall at this moment, T's version versus the proper one! (And of course it sounds way cuter in person! Or at least just to his mommy!)

Baps : Bats(my favorite word, I love how he sounds, I can't get enough, Jason can't stand it)
Skeenos : Mosquito
Bankit : Blanket
Bawanna : Banana
Pah-pakes : Pancakes
Ockapus - octopus
Pep store : Pet store
Rounquackasquare : Graham crackers
cheese enchawa: enchilada
Bandi - Bambi
Baff : Bath
Bawoon : Balloons
Gwasses : Glasses (Every morning he runs down the hall to our room, gets my glasses for me to put on and says "here Mommy put on your gwasses!)
I wuv you! : Love!

The Boys

Helping Papa Warren fill up their new swimming pool!

Saturday, the cousins spent the hot day in and out of this new inflatable swimming pool! As you can see, our boys LOVED running in and out of it, diving over the side, and splashing each other. They later spent the evening playing T-ball with Uncle Jason and good friend Corey and Cayden. The evening was topped off with an ice-cream treat from Sweet Retreat, and a plain cone for my son!

Fun in the Summertime

This past weekend we attended the annual Lew Family Picnic at Vasona, an over 30 year tradition! We arrived early in the morning so I could enjoy a hot breakfast, compliments of my parents (aka Papa and Pasha!) and Aunt Sandy, then T and my Dad went off to the park. We then rode on the train and ended the late morning with T's favorite, a Carousel ride! It was a hot day making it pretty exhasuting for my little man, and by noon he was asking to go back to his Pasha's air-conditioned house, as he hates to be "Shwetty." We also visited his great grandmother, or Bok-Bok, where she spoiled him with her home-made pizza and Trader Joe's cheese puffs! While he kept bust playing with boxes of buttons and rocks, my Mom and I picked up around her apartment, overall it was a nice visit!

Last Friday, we met T's Auntie Jenn and his cousins from Tracy at Twin Lakes Beach for a sun-and-fun-filled beach day! Mitch and T had a blast looking for treasures along the shore, helping me build sand castles, and splashing in the waves! Thomas was a little more hesitant and unsure about the sand, as it was also a super blustery day, so he hung out in the beach tent mostly! After we had had enough wind burn for the day, we headed home to our place for playtime and pizza!

T found what look like shrimp, that jump out of the sand, and they have really long red antenna. They don't look like typical sand crabs so I'm not quite sure what they are, but he spent an hour playing with them before his cousins arrived!

Holding his shrimp!

Sunbathing!

Last week after swim class, we also had the pleasure of swimming in a new pool at my good friend Shelley's parents' house. T enjoyed diving in and showing Shelley his swimming technique! We were treated to a delicious lunch of chicken fajitas and we really enjoyed our visit that day.

Fun 4th

This year's 4th of July began with a successful 6 hour shop-till-we-drop trip to the Gilroy outlets where my sister outfitted her new career woman wardrobe with TONS of gorgeous clothes. She is definitely gonna Wow them at St Jude next week!

T and I then headed over to a friend's house for BBQ and backyard fireworks. We have done this every year for the last 5 I think, and it is always a blast. T is still the ONLY child so he is very well spoiled and attended to by all of J's friends and they really do seem to love having him around. Having the only child and a 3 yr. old at that, at a grown up party, wouldn't be expected to be very enjoyable and well tolerated by others, but not the case. I am always appreciative and thankful for J's friends as they make a huge effort to include T and pay attention to him when he asks, despite their preference to probably chill-out, play beer pong, and do whatever it is that single people do these days at a party!

Hopeful in the next year or two there will be some new little ones running around as now finally there are some new wedding engagements and some talk of babies by some of the newlyweds so that is exciting to look forward to!

We enjoyed delicious food provided by Uncle Paul, and then watched the fireworks put on by Jason's friend Greg. It was a long day but a really enjoyable one at that.

I hope you all had a fabulous Fourth!

Waiting for the fireworks!

All he needs a grass skirt and we can put him in a Polynesian fire dance!

A little close!

Trying to write his name with fire!

Thank you Greg for putting on another awesome fireworks extraveganza by the pool this year!
I have no idea how this picture happened, the fireworks were across from us but somehow they appeared above our heads in this shot! Cool one though

Trying to capture T waving his flag proudly

Nick is always really sweet and great to play with T! Here he is helping T light his hundredth sparkler!

A new mode of transporation

A few weeks back, I decided T needed a new form of wheels. We have had his Kettrike tricycle for 2 years now which he rides often but I thought a scooter might be fun and a better means for burning off his everlasting energy battery.
So here he is with his Harley Davidson Scooter, complete with motorcycle sounds and headlights! His helmet lights up too, and he didn't even put up a fight about wearing it, it was just part of the excitement of having a new scooter! Doesn't he look so big?!
